Our Vision
STØD Medical is a Danish research and development project working on first aid equipment for modern armed conflict. Founded in 2026 and affiliated with DTU Skylab, the project works directly with medics and clinicians with connection to the war in Ukraine to identify where current equipment fails, and to build what should replace it.
How It Started
The starting point was a mismatch: the first aid equipment being sent into Ukraine was designed for a different war, one with air superiority, short evacuation times and a golden hour. In Ukraine the wounded can lie eight to sixty hours before reaching definitive care, and drones make evacuation itself the most dangerous part.
The Method
Instead of designing from that assumption, the project began by asking people who have been there what actually goes wrong. That is still the method: field research first, product decisions made on evidence, not in a workshop in Denmark.
About The Name
Stød is Danish for a sudden jolt or blow, as in "at få stød", to be struck. The name points straight at the moment of impact the equipment has to answer to.
